Thirty-five-year-old Sydney mum, Tynelle Spinner now has her career in libraries on track, thanks to NCTAFE staff who supported and encouraged her to upgrade her library qualifications.

Tynelle completed the Certificate III in Library Services in just 10 months, back in 2010, while working two days a week and looking after her two pre-school aged children. In fact, she loved studying online so much, Tynelle then decided to do the Diploma in Library Services, which she finished in July 2012.

After a successful work placement at Kogarah Municipal Council's Library she gained casual work at the library and also at Sutherland Shire's Library.

"The help I received from Rachael Power was extraordinary," Tynelle said. "Nothing was too much trouble and slowly, but surely my computer skills improved. By the end, I was doing great presentations online, and I felt really proud of myself."

After 12 years in the childcare industry, working with children in libraries is where Tynelle wants to be for the long term. Once her youngest child starts school in 2014, Tynelle will be well positioned with her Diploma to realise that goal.
